For Parents of Children with Hearing Loss
by
Pratibha Srinivasan, Certified Auditory-Verbal Therapist
In this page, I have tried to provide some guidance and pointers to parents whose child has recently been identified with a hearing loss and who are searching for answers. Some of the information might be useful to all parents of hearing-impaired children. The information provided here is one person's point of view, reflecting my training, experience, and philosophy. I urge you to learn everything you can about your child's hearing loss and the costs and benefits of different options.
1. Get your child's hearing evaluated by an audiologist as soon as possible.

The best place to start is to contact your local early intervention program or
